Schools and Museums of Modern Design in Transylvania

Miklós Székely’s monograph explores and presents the art, material culture, architecture, and applied arts of the last Hungarian period of Transylvania, organized along various thematic perspectives. The graphic concept is built on a consistent visual narrative. The montage formed from abstract shapes on the cover becomes interpretable upon opening the book, and later connects visually with the divider pages. The volume’s brown tone, used as a direct color, serves as a defining element across the visual illustrations, archival imagery, and textual layout. The layout combines the bold and striking typographic solutions of the divider pages with the simple, clearly structured interior spreads. The vivid blue color of the cover lends the book a distinctive and unique appearance, ensuring that it stands out on library shelves.
