Applied Arts and Design

Gyula Ernyey is an Interior Designer, Industrial Designer, Design Historian, Professor Emeritus at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Since 1967, he has been a lecturer at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design and served as Deputy Director General of the General Collection at the Museum of Applied Arts between 1975 and 1988. From 1988 to 1992, he was a scientific advisor at the Rubik Studio, and from 1992 to 1993, he worked at the Industrial Design and Ergonomics Council Office of the National Committee for Technological Development (OMFB). Between 1993 and 2010, he held positions as an institute director and department head at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design. He is an internationally recognized researcher in design history; alongside his teaching, he also works as a designer and exhibition curator and is an active participant in the professional design community.
